Michael Lawrence Soshnick, Esq. has been practicing law for more than twenty-five (25) years. He began his legal career as a Nassau County Assistant District Attorney in 1978. He served as a prosecutor in the District Court and County Court Bureaus where he tried numerous cases ranging from driving while intoxicated (DWI) to murder.
Mr. Soshnick also served in the Indictment Unit and the Appeals Bureau. He culminated his career in the District Attorney's Office by serving as the first Chief of the newly formed Mental Health Unit following the passage of the Insanity Defense Reform Act in 1980 where he was responsible for protecting Nassau County citizens from the most dangerously mentally ill offenders.
Since leaving the District Attorney's Office in 1985 Mr. Soshnick has practiced law privately and has defended many high profile cases in New York City and on Long Island. The cases have included: murder, racketeering, sex offenses, alien smuggling, credit card fraud, insurance fraud and conspiracy to possess and distribute narcotics.
Mr. Soshnick has defended clients in both the State and Federal Courts of the State of New York. In addition, he has been hired to represent defendants in Federal Courts throughout the United States. Mr. Soshnick serves as Trial Counsel to the Law Offices of Christian Aaron Pickney on criminal matters.
